The Dramatic Importance Of Keeping Records
How many times have you seen a bank NOT keep a record of their transactions?
If you have, please tell me you don’t bank there But if you choose to bank with them, please, let me and my associates bank for you
Believe me, it would probably be safer All of our shoeboxes and empty coffee cans are have no minimal balance penalties
But seriously, the reason why banks keep records is simply to have a reference to, or a record of something that happened in the past So if need be, they can look back and verify a transaction in case something happens or if something needs to be changed
You should do the same thing with your fitness routine As a matter of fact, a daily schedule and/or record of what you do is one of the most powerful secrets of fitness professionals around the world!
Why?
It’s simple As I’ve said before, in order for your body to change, you have to stimulate it to change through proper nutrition and intense exercise
A routine where a balanced nutrition program, a progressive weight training, and intense cardiovascular routine are included will do wonders for you if you allow it
However, since your body is incredible at adapting to stress, it will eventually stagnate at a certain level if you don’t provide a stimulus which is more difficult to the exercise it’s currently receiving
This is where a good training log comes into play
By referring back to your training log on occasion, you can easily see how strong you were, how difficult your workouts were, and now, you can adjust your routine to include heavier weights, more repetitions, or any variable you can come up with to make it more difficult than your current routine
By adjusting your routine, you’re now able to provide your body with a stimulus that your body hasn’t had the chance to adjust to, which will make your body change, but faster!
By never allowing your body to adjust, you constantly make positive gains and incredible progress towards your fitness goals
Do the same with your nutrition log Let’s say for instance you’re wanting to lose more weight and you’re now currently on a nutrition plan that gives you an average of 2,000 calories per day
If you aren’t keeping a record of what you eat, how will you know that you’re eating the required amount of calories? More than that, how will you know what to adjust to get the desired amount of calories to help you lose more weight?
What if you need more protein?
What if you need less carbs?
What if you’re not getting the required amount of vitamins and minerals you need per day?
Now do you see why it’s so important to keep a journal? You’re able to control what you put in your body and it gives you the freedom and discipline to train your body for the best results
Do yourself a favor: Get a journal, keep your records, and refer back to them on a regular basis You’re ensuring yourself a program that is filled with achieveable goals and progress instead of a dead-end filled with tons of disappointment
