Music is charged with emotion Not only was the music itself written with great passion and probably played in the same manner but it also invokes a great many emotional responses Music can help us remember people, places or emotions Some of these memories may be good and some may be bad Music can even stir up memories that we had otherwise forgotten about This emotional response is a very strong one and by using it to good effect we can change the way we feel about certain situations Relaxation music is readily available and comes in many different forms Hypnosis tapes (or CDs or MP3) are also available that can help meditation 1- Listening to relaxing music can aid relaxation greatly Find a darkened room and light some small candles or burn some incense oil if you find this relaxing Make sure your relaxation music is turned to a volume that drowns out any background noise but is not so loud that it becomes obtrusive or uncomfortable 2- Even at work or at home with your family you can effectively listen to relaxation music If you have an MP3 player or personal stereo you can even listen to it on the bus or when you're out shopping Put on your headphones and, again, make sure that the volume is at the right level If you have the volume too low you will be able to hear the kids screaming and cars passing by but if you have it too loud it will become uncomfortable 3- Use any opportunity you can to relax using relaxation music If you regularly workout then put your headphones on while you're at the gym or out jogging Listen to it while you are driving to and from work, try to forget about the day that is about to face you or the day you have just had but be careful not to be too relaxed while driving 4- You don't have to listen to music that is designed specifically as relaxation music If you like calm classical music then this is fine to use Obviously heavy rock is unlikely to calm you down but conversely the relaxation music you use should be composed in a way that makes it easy to listen to and moderately upbeat It shouldn't just be background music; it should also catch your attention and the focus of your mind 5- Relaxation is not something that comes naturally to many of us Stresses of modern life mean that we regularly finish work and go home to worry about it for the rest of the day This causes a lack of sleep and other problems These are unlikely to be undone by listening to five minutes of relaxation music every three months Relaxation music works best when listened to for a minimum of 30 minutes but if you do listen regularly then five minutes during your break at work will still have a calming effect

We all have tasks we don't enjoy doing, but they have to get done Whether it's doing our taxes, cleaning out the refrigerator, or filing that pile of papers, these are the chores we dread So we end up putting them off over and over again, until the "To File" pile threatens to avalanche onto the floor, or the science experiment in the back of the fridge develops legs and walks away Usually when this happens, we get mad at ourselves, which makes us dislike the job even more We accuse ourselves of being lazy, of having no self-discipline But that isn't really the problem Most of the time, it's simply that the task is unpleasant, or we're not good at it, or it's boring We get less out of the task than we put into it Or at least it feels that way So instead of berating ourselves about our laziness or procrastination, let's take that energy and use it to figure out how to make that chore more pleasant or rewarding (Chocolate usually works for me) Sometimes it's as simple as pulling out a pair of rubber gloves before you tackle the fridge, or brewing a special pot of coffee to sip while you struggle with the taxes The most effective thing to do is to change your feelings about the chore Find something positive about it and focus on that Be glad you have a refrigerator with food in it Appreciate the fact that you have sufficient income to pay taxes Here are a few more suggestions about how to handle the chore you hate *Can you make the chore more pleasant?

Here’s a simple exercise that anyone can do, even if they haven’t been ‘attuned’ to Reiki It requires a basic knowledge of channeling Reiki energy, the positions of the 7 primary chakras and a willingness to spend some time making someone else feel good Everything else is optional For those who’ve never channeled Reiki or studied it, first take a moment and see my other article “Basic Reiki” for instructions on how to open up to and channel the energy Setting the tone I like to create a nice atmosphere when doing Reiki I usually light up some nice incense and for music I usually use Nik Tyndall’s “Reiki-Healing Hands” CD as it’s also designed to help open the heart chakra I also like the internet radio station at http://wwwmysticradiocom/ Getting Started Just lie down in a comfortable position and put a pillow under your knees to help take the strain off your lower back Place one hand over your 3rd eye and the other over your 1st chakra Now just relax and open up to the energy and let it flow down through the top of your head, through your heart chakra and out through your hands Spent several minutes here, or until you feel like it’s time to change Next move one hand up to your 2nd Chakra and the other down to your Throat Chakra Spend as much time as you need here, and then move one hand down to your Heart Chakra and the other up to your Solar Plexus Chakra After you finish here then just switch your hands around to your chakras at random and continue tuning them up for as long as you desire Getting Deeper These exercises can obviously be enhanced by using the Reiki Symbols and by having the Attunements, but neither is really necessary Over time your body will attune itself if you keep running the energy These exercises can also be enhanced by regularly practicing ‘The 5 Tibetans’ exercises also, as they help tune and rejuvenate your chakras also There are so many things that can be done, both with Reiki and your Chakra System, and the point of this exercise is to help you balance your energy and feel better It’s also about building up your own catalog of experience, as it’s pretty hard for any teacher to tell you what a certain exercise should feel like when you do it I can tell you how it feels to ME when I do it, but it may feel differently to you when you do it yourself, so play with it and see how it feels This is also about learning to trust yourself and your own feelings and the only way to do that is play with it and have fun ABOUT THE AUTHOR Robert Morgen is a Reiki Master who currently holds a Blackbelt in Hoshin Roshi Ryu and founded High Mountain Hoshin in Denver, Co He's also the founder and moderator of the Kundalini Awakening Discussion Group at http://wwwcare2com/c2c/group/Kundalini http://wwwhighmountainhoshincom hoshinco@yahoocom

Whenever we start a new creative project, it's always a little scary We're never sure how it's going to turn out And that element of uncertainty is just the thing we need to get our Critic up and hollering at us The Critic also comes to visit when we start thinking about tomorrow's work, or yesterday's work, or the end result, instead of what we are doing here and now Sometimes, it comes calling immediately after a visit with a well-meaning friend or relative, or when we are hungry or tired My Critic likes to visit about 3:30 in the morning, frequently waking me from a sound sleep You know what I mean Your Critic is that voice that echoes inside your head, telling you your work isn't good enough, you're not good enough, it's all a waste of time, it's trivial, no one will come, it will never sell Everyone's Critic has it's own favorite issues And our Critic's issues often get in the way of our work So we need to banish our Critic from our work space, whether that's a painting studio, a writing office, or a stage But that's not easy to do The Critic is stubborn, and usually returns after you think you've got rid of him for good Here are some suggestions that might work for you 1 Have a concrete representation of your Critic in your work space When you start to work, move it out of the space or put it in a drawer 2 Sit and listen to your Critic Write down every negative thing it says, then either verbally or on paper refute each statement, whether you agree with it or not 3 When your Critic starts to sit on your shoulder and whisper in your ear in the middle of your working, stop for a minute Take a deep breath, then concentrate on all your five physical senses What do you smell? What do you hear? What do you see, feel, and taste

Incense and incense burners come in many different varieties While incenses vary in essences and aromas, incense burners vary in materials and shapes Not only the incense you choose will have an effect on your environment, but the incense burner you use will do so as well The incense you choose might affect your mood and the chi flow around it, while the incense burner might directly affect the feng shui of the space where it is as well as directly affect those who keep it Incense burners go hand to hand with incenses since they offer the most comfortable and practical way for you to burn your incenses Besides, it would add symbolism and harmony to the incense burning activity and to the effect that the essence the incense contains has If you wish to have an incense burner which adapts to feng shui principles then you should choose it in order that it helps you adding balance to your house environment You can do this by choosing it according to the material it is made of or the colors it contains If you need to add metal to a specific area in order to create harmony, you should look for a metal incense burner On the other hand, if you need other elements, such as water or fire, you should choose an incense burner painted in colors that represent the wished element Another very important factor to consider regarding incense burners are their shapes You may be able to find incense burners with different forms and imitating different objects Therefore, you can add symbolism with your incense burner depending on the shape it has and what it represents An example of incense burner you may be able to find is a lotus flower shaped one, which would symbolize purity and wisdom as well as it would help you attracting good fortune to your house or any other place where it is used Lien Hua or the lotus flower is, according to Chinese traditions, a symbol of knowledge, wisdom and purity, and therefore any object representing it would symbolize those attributes as well ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jakob Jelling is the founder of http://wwwfengshuicrazycom Please visit his website and learn all the feng shui tips you'll ever need!

I don't know about you, but just the smell of cinnamon makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over My favorite cookies to make is Snickerdoodles because I just LOVE the smell of them baking There's just something warm and delicious about it The sense of smell is powerful - and when my kids smell Cinnamon, they are going to feel warm and fuzzy all over because of the fun we've had in the kitchen But, you might be surprised to know that the history of Cinnamon goes waaaay back - it was one of the first trade spices In fact, cinnamon is mentioned in the Bible - it was used in the combination of ingredients used to make a holy anointing oil for the tabernacle: Moreover the Lord spake unto Moses saying, Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil Exodus 30:22-25 NKJV The ointment or oil was used to anoint the tabernacle of the congregation, the ark of the testimony, the table and all the vessels, the candlestick, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt-offering, etc I find two things interesting about this passage: That cinnamon was an ingredient in this holy anointing oil That is is called "an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary Does cinnamon have health benefits as well? There are cinnamon pills for diabetes, cinnamon bark used medicinally by the Chinese for calming stomach acids, cinnamon bark being used in India for childbirth labor, and cinnamon increasing blood circulation and creating a warm feeling Well, didn't I start out by saying just the smell of cinnamon makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over?
