Exercising is one of those events that you know you should do but don't always want to At least that's how I feel until I get on a routine After about a month or so of continuous planned exercising a strange thing happensI get addicted This article will give you a few pointers on things to do and not do and the benefits of exercising Do(s) and Don't(s): Unless you are participating in very strenuous exercise, like long bike rides, that lasts over 90 minutes, you don't need to drink "sports drinks" Stick with water (no sugar, no calories) your body will thank you It is a good idea take a friend to exercise class with you You are much more apt to stick with your program if you recruit a partner There is nothing better than a little peer pressure to keep you motivated To prevent injury, stretch at least the following four areas after every exercise session: the calves, the hamstrings, the shoulders and the back This will help prevent cramping as well Should you be exercising every day? You need to find your own "comfort zone" between "on" and "off" days, between "exercise" and "rest" Determine what schedule works for you You can work out every day, but it is not necessary to reap the rewards of exercise The most important thing is to do what works best for you The benefits of exercising: - Exercise burns calories, which will help you lose weight and maintain a healthy weight - Regular exercise can help your body respond to insulin and is known to be effective in managing blood glucose - Exercise can lower blood glucose and possibly reduce the amount of medication you need to treat diabetes, or even eliminate the need for medication - Exercise can improve your circulation, especially in your arms and legs, where people with diabetes can have problems - Exercise can help reduce your cholesterol and high blood pressure High cholesterol and high blood pressure can lead to a heart attack or stroke - Exercise helps reduce stress Training: Do strength training! Keep this thought in mind as you do your strength training: the more muscle tissue you have, the more fat you burn And you are burning this fat even when you are at rest Do aerobic training! This type of training is good for burning calories, keeping your heart strong and improving your over-all endurance In conclusion: Make exercising a part of your life style, doing a little is better than none at all Remember to consult with your physician prior to beginning an exercise program Usually a telephone call to your doctor will be all that is necessary

Dry winter air can lead to a variety of problems, ranging from dry skin and nosebleeds to cracked paint and peeling wallpaper In an effort to control the humidity and eliminate the health problems and household annoyances, many people turn to humidifiers Humidifiers work by sending water into the air, increasing humidity to a more comfortable level For optimum comfort and health, humidity levels should be maintained between 30 and 50 percent Any less and mucous membranes will dry out; any higher and bacteria will grow There are two main types of technologies driving humidifiers: warm mist and cool mist In a warm mist humidifier, water is heated and sent into the air In cool mist, or evaporative, humidifiers, water is blown through a wick filter and into the air The humidifier filter is designed to filter out bacteria and other impurities from the water Problems arise when people fail to follow the manufacturers’ instructions regarding humidifier filters These filters must be cleaned or changed regularly, depending on the model Filters generally must be changed every four to six weeks, but check the instructions on your particular model Failure to do so will result in the growth of harmful mold, mildew, bacteria, dust mites, and other impurities Ingesting these harmful growths can be much more hazardous than the problems associated with low humidity For people who wish to use a cool mist humidifier, but don’t want to be bothered with changing humidifier filters, the Hunter Care-Free humidifiers might be the best choice They offer a Permawick filter that never needs to be changed and only has to be cleaned once a season When buying replacement filters, it is generally a good item to avoid generic brands Though these generic, universal filters may be cheaper, they often sacrifice quality Look for the letters “OEM,” (original equipment manufacturer) This ensures that you are purchasing a filter from the actual product manufacturer For example, if you have a Honeywell humidifier, you should buy a Honeywell filter If you do opt to use a generic “knock-off” filter, check your manufacturer information carefully to be that its use will not void the humidifier warranty Humidifiers Info provides detailed information on house, furnace, cigar, and ultrasonic humidifiers, as well as humidifier filters and product reviews Humidifiers Info is the sister site of Dehumidifiers Web

Copyright 2006 Sheri Zampelli What if your thinking creates your body? Take the example of Daisy She always felt like she'd look better if she lost 5 or 10 pounds From the time she was 16-years-old, she said things like, "I'd like to go swimming but I'm too fat to wear a bathing suit" Or, "What guy would want to date a fatty like me?" At age 31, after 15 years of referring to herself as "fat" she finally became "fat" Now she looks at pictures from high school in astonishment "How could I ever have thought of myself as fat? I only wish I were that "fat" now!" She says The truth is, our thoughts have a powerful impact on our behavior Consider the following example: Original Thought: "I'll never lose weight" Reaction: I might as well eat this cake What's the point of going to the gym

This article won't win me any friends amongst the hordes of grotesque, fat people in the USA So, if you're one of them - and I don't mean just a bit flabby but unashamedly, American big-time bloody enormous - then you're going to find as many crumbs of comfort in this article as were left in the bottom of your fridge the last time you shovelled the remains of that chocolate cake down your throat at three in the morning So you can stop reading now if you're looking for another effort-free, magical diet or some words of support and understanding On the other hand, if you're willing to stay outside of your comfort zone for the few minutes it will take you to read this you may very well find that you'll make a decision to find out how to finally get rid of all the fat you're carrying around every day like so much excess baggage You're going to get angry reading this That's ok - I'm already angry Right now I'm angry that our western governments don't do more to share our surplus food with the millions of people in the world who end up starving to death each year It's not a cool enough subject to be a vote winner, I suppose No I'm not asking you for any money That's not the point of this article But before you take a fresh look at the horrible state you're in, just pause for a moment and think about this:- Did you know that every year in developing countries there are nearly 12 million kids aged under five who die because of malnutrition? You have to go back as far as 14th century Europe and the Black Death to find a mortality rate like that And we wonder why anger and despair blight our world when there is so much hunger and hopelessness on the one hand and apparent callous disregard and plain greed on the other? Alright I forgot It's somewhere else It's out of sight It's too big a problem for you to do anything about But just take a good look at yourself will you?

One way to combat the boredom many people complain accompanies eating healthy is to "eat outside your box," by experimenting with new foods and cuisines and by challenging your notions about what to eat and when Iceberg is not the only kind of lettuce, apples and oranges aren't the only fruits and there is no law that says you can't eat mushroom lasagne for breakfast and a southwestern omelete for dinner And just because your parents always eat turkey on Thanksgiving, fish on Friday and meatloaf on Mondays doesn't mean you have to Dare to step outside your comfort zone and put an end to your eating rut, by accepting one (or more) of the following challenges to eat and live more healthily and creatively 1 Make a list of the 10 foods that you eat on a regular basis Over the course of the next month, eat outside your box by passing on these foods 2 Try a new food every day Have you knocked eating soy, tofu, sushi or kiwi without ever giving it a try Don't allow the opinions of others to inhibit your pallet, give your taste buds an opportunity to decide 3 Try not to eat any of the same meals you ate last month Use your imagination and cookbooks like Trim Terrific by Holly Clegg to invigorate your mundane menus 4 Do not visit any of the same restaurants you tried last month If you eat out it must be somewhere new Order something new and nutritious off the menu 5 Use a cookbook to explore ways you can make the foods you usually eat more nutritious 6 Ask people from different race, regions, religious and cultural backgrounds to share their favorites foods and recipes Incorporate at least 2 into your menu 7 Buy a new cookbook with recipes from a cuisine you have never experienced Prepare at least one meal a week from the cookbook 8 Sit down with a healthy cookbook like The Ultimate Healthy Eating Cookbook edited by Anne Sheasby Make a list of 30 recipes that look appealing You don't have to use them - but they will be there when you need them 9 Make a special trip to the grocery store or specialty food store to shop for herbs and spices Buy at least 5 of them and experiment with them at least 1 each week 10 Take a cooking class Check your local YMCA or community for course offerings 11 Flip the script Make a list of the meals you usually eat for breakfast, a list of meals you usually eat for lunch and a list for dinner Then eat what you normally eat for lunch for dinner, dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner 12 Each time you go grocery shopping buy at least 5 different brands than you usually do You may be surprised to learn that different brands offer better taste, nutrition and price

Stat Medical Hardware, Inc (SMD) was founded in 1988 and is a leader in developing and distributing innovative medical devices Their emphasis is on lancets, lancing devices and clinical, capillary blood sampling devices The Stat-Let Auto Lancets are available in 5 different systems to accomodate your blood sampling necessity They feature very simple one-step function, non-reuse safety feature These lancet devices are indivually wrapped, and they are packaged in boxes of 100 In our home care agency, we use these to test the blood sugar of many of our senior citizens who cannot do their own testing while they are on service with our agency What's great about these lancets is that you do not have to place them in lancing pens They are individually wrapped and ready to dispose of when you are finished with testing on your finger This type of lancet is innovative because sometimes when you are using a lancet pen device, it is difficult to manipulate You have to be able to remove the top to the lancing device, place a lancet in the lancing pen, close the pen, make sure the pen is ready to use and then click on your finger to get a blood sample This may be difficult for seniors with arthritic problems or deformed fingers related to arthritis Sometimes people do not want to be bothered with setting up the lancet pen--too much of a hassle The Stat-Let Auto Lancets make it easy to attain a blood sample from the finger There are 5 different models for different depths depending on whether you are testing on an adult, child or infant Auto Pediatric lancet 18mm Depth-26 gauge Auto Comfort Lancet 18mm Depth-21 gauge Auto Normal Lancet 24mm Depth-21 gauge Auto Extra Lancet 30mm Depth-21 gauge Auto Neonatal/Heelstick 12mm Depth-18 gauge As you can see that the higher the mm, the deeper the lancing devices penetrates into the finger If you have calloused fingers or you have difficulty in getting a good blood supply, you would want to go with the Auto Extra Lancet with the 30mm Depth-21 gauge There are different colors for each of the different lancets All you have to do is: **Remove the protective cap **Place the Stat-Let Auto lancet onto your test site **Push firmly against your test site and the needle is automatically released **After use dispose in suitable "sharps" container That's it If a loved one doesn't want to do their blood sugar because the lancet pen is a hassle or too difficult to manipulate, this may be the answer you have been searching for

A few years ago, the cover of a prominent religious journal showed a picture of a chick just having burst out of its shell Many people wrote to that journal to say that it was not a religious enough picture for the Easter edition But what could be more relevant and religious than a small creature having grown and strong enough breaking free of the shell which had housed and protected it while it grew and had given it strength in the struggle to be free but which had now become a restriction to further growth Is there a shell you need to break through today? Old negative habits?, out of date and restrictive belief systems?, your comfort zone?) Sometimes these shells are caused by physical limitations, sometimes emotional limitations, sometimes spiritual limitations and sometimes a combination of any or all three The fertilized egg begins to develop a baby chick By positive inner action, growth and development, the chick begins to grow It begins to pick at its shell until at last it breaks and the chick is free We have within our mind the ability to grow and develop beyond what we may have thought possible By your mental unfolding, and with the help of hypnosis, you can leave your hurts, disappointments and failures behind and break through your shell into a brighter more positive future Think again of the chick breaking out of its shell: a soft, helpless chick begins to pick at the fixed and rigid limits of its world and keeps picking until those limits give way and it is able to stand erect and free You may have seen a butterfly working hard at releasing itself from a cocoon Again, it does not give up until it is free and the struggle is necessary to strengthen the butterfly's wings for flight Without this strength it could not fly or survive If a little chick can break through such a tough shellif a tiny butterfly can break out of a cocoonthen you can break through your perceived limitations and restrictions and fly free

Emotional eating is eating for reasons other than to provide needed fuel and sustenance to your body or in response to hunger Food can provide a feeling of comfort and eating is often used to address emotional problems rather than in response to hunger "Depression, boredom, loneliness, chronic anger, anxiety, frustration, stress, problems with interpersonal relationships and poor self-esteem can result in overeating and unwanted weight gain" It is imperative that you recognize the signals that indicate eating for emotional comfort and develop a coping strategy to break this pattern Let's face it, eating for emotional reasons will likely cause substantial unwanted weight gain which may only reinforce whatever emotional problems you may already be dealing with Be conscious of the motivation that causes you to reach for that bag of processed cookies or sugar drink If you are aren't eating for nutrition and/or to assuage normal hunger, you are going to weigh yourself down with unwanted pounds and negatively impact your health As you consume food, categorize the action and ask yourself whether you are eating to meet emotional needs or true nutrional needs If the former, take a time out and deal with it before continuing To know more, visit getfitsourcecom
