Penile curvature: is surgery the only option? The majority of men have a very slight curve or sideways "hang" to the penis But about 400 men in every 100,000 suffer from the condition of severely bent or curved erect penis, so extreme that it makes intercourse painful for both partners or completely impossible The erect penis may bend in a "J" or "U" shape, or may have a series of bends that create an almost corkscrew-like appearance This condition is referred to in the medical community as Peyronie's Disease, and is also sometimes called fibrous caverositis as a description of the condition of having fibrous scar tissue building up in the layers of erectile tissue (cavernosa) Physicians disagree about the exact cause of Peyronie's It's clear, however, that the condition occurs when inelastic plaque or scar tissue replaces the normally elastic tissue of some part of the penis Normally, an erection expands the elastic tissue of the penis more or less symmetrically, producing a straight erection But because scar tissue is not elastic, or stretchy, but rather hard, it stays put while other parts of the penis engorge, resulting in curvature or severe bending If the scar tissue extends all the way around the shaft of the penis, the result is either "bottleneck" or pinching-in at that location, or even a drastic shortening of the penis This unfortunate circumstance may begin with injury, inflammation, or trauma of some sort to the erect penis, such as forceful bending Some men have developed Peyronie's after attempts to treat erectile dysfunction via injection (the most common drug used for this purpose is called Caverject) Physicians also suspect that other medical conditions may influence the onset of Peyronies, such as high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries or diabetes, which may be linked to other rare genetic causes Currently, though, the most likely culprit is believed to be trauma followed by slow or abnormal healing As for treatment, it's important to understand that every case of Peyronie's is different For some men, surgery is a logical option, though physicians generally tell patients to wait at least a year or two before surgical attempts to correct it are made During that waiting period, most patients will try other treatments first, with the thought that surgery is a last-resort, drastic choice (if you doubt this, do a search online with the keywords "penile curvature surgery," though you should be warned that these graphic photos are not for the weak of heart or stomach and can be very disturbing) In some cases, men improve spontaneously without treatment within a year or two, and scar tissue may even disappear About 40% of men see no change within that time frame, though, and another 40% may even see worsening of conditions One of the two most-performed surgeries, called the Nesbit procedure, often results in a shortening of the penis by 1 to 2 inches; the other procedure in which scar tissue is replaced with grafted tissue may result in partial or complete loss of erectile function In these cases, prior to surgery and during the "waiting period," alternative treatments are certainly worthwhile and more effective than doing nothing at all, and are infinitely preferable given the extreme nature of the surgical treatments Right now, the best-documented and most successful self-treatments available are in the form of traction devices, perhaps combined with a course of Vitamin E therapy Highly successful corrective devices like the ProExtender™ (wwwproextendercom) work by gently applying consistent, measured traction to the penis to counteract the hardening of scar tissue while building the penis's straight-arrow dimensions The device can be worn discreetly under clothing (even at work, if a man has a low-exertion job) and needs to be applied consistently for a course of months This device was developed by Swedish doctor, Jorn Ege Siana , and is used in clinics and hospitals throughout the US and Europe by post-penis-surgery patients to ensure proper healing, and is also offered by doctors as an alternative to surgery The benefits of traction-device treatment are clear: no side effects, low cost compared to surgery, and the advantage of at-home treatment without the trauma and invasive risks of surgery To this, many men add Vitamin E, studied throughout the 1940s and 1950s and continuing today concerning its effectiveness against penile curvature Another natural supplement used by Peyronie's sufferers is Potaba, or potassium amonobenzoate, that has been shown to yield some benefits; however, the cost can be high since the therapy requires 24 pills a day for up to 6 months There are a number of other oral medications and supplements available by prescription for Peyronie's disease For any of these approaches, men are advised to consult a physician

An infection is the in short the hosting of foreign species in a host organism There is a war that is involved between the host and the foreign body as the infection organism is looking to use the hosts resources in order to multiply All of this occurs at the expense of the host If the host and the intruder could coexist there would be no problem, but this isn't the case The infecting organism in it's intrusion will interfer with the normal operation of the host, and in many cases inflict with the survival of the host These organisms are usually consired to be tiny and microscopic, however the definition is in fact much wider than that Pathogens are a broad group that include: (Infectious Disease is the specific branch of medicine that focuses on these infections and pathogens) - Parasites - Bacteria - Viruses - Prions - Viroids - Fungi All organisms with multiple cells(multicellular) are colonized to some extent by an extrinsic organisms The large majority of these exist in either a relationship with the host like mentioned above The difference between an infection and a colonization is due to the circumstance which exists as a result of the former Basically if the colonization of the external body comprises the life of the host organisms it is an infection Several variables are involved which determine the intruders outcome on the host: - The Route of entry - The access to host regions that it gains - The amount or load of the initial inoculant - The intrinsic virulence of the particular organism - The status of the immune system of the host that is being colonized

One of the best things about being diagnosed with ADD is that you finally have an explanation for many of the challenges you experience in life So this is why it's hard for me to get started and follow through! This is why it's hard for me to pay attention in meetings! This is why it's hard for me to get to bed on time! We must be careful, though, because an explanation is not an excuse An excuse can be defined as "a justification used to obtain forgiveness" Excuses don't help us make change or allow us to grow They provide us with a way out They provide us with a reason not to improve our lives, and they keep us feeling disappointed, frustrated, and unhappy And excuses have the same effect on the people we feed them to, like spouses, bosses, and friends When you make a choice , you "select from a number of possible alternatives; you decide" Making choices allows us to take control We stop being victims of circumstance, and start being responsible people When learning to manage your ADD, you must be willing to stop making excuses, and start making choices Of course, learning to manage ADD is not simple It takes time, patience, and practice Let's look at a practical example: You have a doctor's appointment, and you usually arrive late You make the choice to change this behavior You make the choice to plan your travel time, it takes you 15 minutes door to door You make the choice to leave your home 15 minutes before the appointment However, when you get in the car, you realize that you need gas You make the choice to stop for gas, and because of that you end up 5 minutes late You're stressed out and frantic because you really tried to be there on time At this point, you can make an excuse: I didn't realize the tank was so low because I didn't use the car last! Or: I did the best I could so it's not my fault I'm late! Or: No matter how hard I try, I just can't get places on time! The alternative is to make a choice to learn from this experience I learned that I need to allow myself a little extra time, in case something like this comes up Or: I learned that I do have the ability to manage my time better, and although I was still late, I really made an improvement Choices allow you to move forward Excuses will keep you stuck in the same place Make the choice to increase your self-awareness Make the choice to explain your actions, rather than excuse them Make the choice to listen to the people who provide loving feedback Make the choice to find support Make the choice to take action Make the choice to acknowledge success Make the choice to move forward

That children are eating a healthy diet is most parents¡¯ belief and if not they throw their hand up in the air and give up They then tend to give their children multivitamins This is not a bad thing however, many children think vitamins are candy, especially now that they come in gum balls, gummi shapes, and cute animal and cartoon characters This is a very serious issue because if they are within children¡¯s reach they could be ¡®sneaking¡¯ them without you knowing it Call Poison Control immediately and get your child to an emergency room immediately, if you even think your child may have taken too many The result of an overdose of multivitamins with iron could make your child very seriously ill or worse It is absolutely crucial that any and all manner of medications be kept out of the reach of children Children get most of their vitamins from their diets but if you think they need them, generic multivitamins are fine Calcium must be gotten from other sources which benefits your child if they have special needs such as allergies to dairy foods or a strong dislike for them Get advice from your child¡¯s pediatrician Do not give your child more than one vitamin daily even is your child¡¯s diet has been bad one week An excess of any one vitamin could block the absorption of others in the body If your child gets too much calcium for example, it could prevent vitamins such as iron from being absorbed Because many children will not make great choices you can expect to be giving your child vitamins well into their teens Know before buying vitamins that there are varying opinions about vitamins with iron for children You should be giving vitamins with iron which is one school of thought Under no circumstance says another school of thought, should vitamins with iron be given to children My own child, in infancy showed signs of low iron in infancy Always check with your doctor but my child¡¯s doctor put him on iron fortified vitamins and he is very healthy now Hemochromatosis is a disease that is caused by too much iron in the blood The iron is not washed out of the body easily and the body is unable to use the iron It can cause serious health problems and is almost always a fatal disease A very important part of your child¡¯s diet is calcium which helps them to build strong bones and muscles Calcium is a mineral Children can get enough calcium from their diets if they eat yogurt, cheese, and ice cream or if they drink milk There are some who are allergic to dairy products or who don¡¯t like them Some do not like dairy products, still others are allergic to them You can help these children get their needs met by giving them calcium fortified juices, cereals and vitamins Children for the most part get enough fluoride from drinking fluoride treated water or bottled water with fluoride, and/or toothpaste Check with your doctor before giving any fluoride supplement to your child Fluoride in excess could permanently stain your child¡¯s teeth The purpose of treating water and using toothpaste with fluoride to protect your child¡¯s teeth, is defeated Multivitamins meant for infants are typically available in liquid form and given with an eyedropper These drops contain vitamins A, C, and D and my have added iron Other vitamins and minerals may be in the drops such as riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin B-12 Children¡¯s vitamins also come in chewable forms and in the shapes of cartoon characters or animals Gumball and gummi candy vitamins are now available If you child gives you difficulty in taking vitamins, try giving them his favorite character or in gumball form Always supervise your child when he takes vitamins Personally, I myself give my son his vitamins rather than allowing him to do it on his own He either might not take it or he might take too many Too much of a good thing can be fatal but vitamins for children can be good thing They should be kept out of children¡¯s reach Like a lot of children yours might not always eat what is right and giving him vitamins might offset some of that Check with your pediatrician before making adjustments to your child¡¯s diet, it¡¯s always best to err on the side of caution Fun vitamin shapes are fine but your child could think they are ¡®candy¡¯; they should be kept out of the reach or locked away in a cabinet

I know by now that you've heard the terms "Debt-Free Living", "Disease-Free Living", or an overabundance of other such coined terms for various marketing ploys to sell products and services However, I'm not here to sell you anything, as what I'm offering, you already have! You just don't know it yet! --- Context-Free --- A "context" is a circumstance, point of reference, or a situation by which a particular view is aligned and a unique meaning is derived Our personal contexts are those rules, belief systems, and cognitive maps that we've developed over our lives that provide us with a basis for making decisions, passing judgment, applying bias, filtering incoming information, and learning new ideas Immediately, it becomes apparent that living a "context-free" life is impossible If we even attempted to do so, we would become mental vegetables! Information and sensory information would simply flow in and flop on the floors of our minds But, living with an overly complex contextual point of reference can have a similar affect In such a case, information and sensory information are processed to the point of non-existence and we neither move forward or backward in our lives and learning Instead, all data is "mashed" and "sliced" to fit neatly within the knowledge we already have simply to ensure a "safety context" With complex contexts, regardless of how absurd or inaccurate our context is, the mind will devise any justification even if it uses a basis of other absurd or inaccurate information It is our way to ensure that our "comfort zones" go unaffected --- Your Contextual References --- We all have some point of reference that we use to analyze and store information that comes in through our physical senses and psi channels These contexts come from parental voices, authority figures, experiences, trauma, and success As we move through life, the context is usually altered to accept new information and understand how it is to be processed and managed However, many people's complex contextual references block and isolate the internal mind to the point of stifling and smothering the mental processes The mind can then only reprocess the same information it has done so in the past In the end, you derive the same answers to the same problems and end up back at the point you started --- Simplifying Your Context --- On the extreme, over time, rules beget rules until, eventually, we have a complex data filtration system that kicks out anything that remote resembles some idea or information not completely in-line with our systems of belief The human mind tends to develop such complexity to answer questions for which it is unsure It creates a web of cross-connected information to prove that our lives and beliefs are justified This type of thought process leads to a stifling existence, little creativity, and a biased view of life as a whole In the end, we end up with self-composed theories about how things are and should be and are unwilling to accept anything else Eventually we can become embittered, angry, frustrated, envious, and prejudiced The most effective, yet difficult, way to manage such a situation is to simplify and eliminate those rules and beliefs that have no basis in your life Why do you hate?

I once attended a party meant for broken hearts It was a party that had so much sadness painted all over it Such was the color of sadness that even a blind person could see it from a distance The atmosphere of the day was filled with incomprehensible gaze and all I could hear was the sound of silenceA silence so deafening Everyone in the party wanted to be left alone in solitude, they acted like their life was utterly intolerable, as if they had no hope of reprieve, like they did not want to anticipate for tomorrow to come When I looked around me I saw pieces of hearts scattered here and there, hearts that I knew were whole before, and were used to conjure up thoughts of joy and gladness Hearts that were used to feel the beauty and wonders of our surroundings It was so disheartening for me to discern that some people had cried their eyes out and their tears had formed a pool beside them A pool that was threatening to drown them Heartbreak is an event that is engraved on the memory of a person whose heart has been broken in such a fashion that it keeps on hunting the mind of that person Day will follow day and the days that will follow may become a nightmare It is not strange that we feel the hurts and pains that will accompany such days, if we delve into psychology, we will come up with an obvious answer; the heart is a sensitive part of us But we can overcome and forget if we change the circumstance We can do this by the imagination of the mind We can use the mind to harness the joy we once felt and the propensity to the happiness we once shared with tenderness and concern Everybody eats dirt in his or her lives The strong spits it out and survives We should not allow the mind to become overstressed because of the apprehensions and emotional emptiness we feel We could make the mind give birth to delusions that may seem completely real Such delusions could become catalyst that may send the mind over some emotional precipice so that the events of the day also become emotionally magnified and out of place Every bird has a song, so will every broken heart find love again No one should allow the agonies of a broken heart take the chance of loving again away from him or her Most people live their lives without finding love You are still alive; you have found love once, now love will find you A love more fulfilling than the one you lost ABOUT THE AUTHOR Daniel is a script writer His first novel Unimaginable will soon be published

We’ve heard the instructions many times over There is such familiarity that many people can almost recite them verbatim In fact, these directives are so crucial; they are printed on placards and demonstrated visually by the staff They are so important that they can’t wait until you are airborne to share I’m talking about the life-saving instructions on what to do in case of an emergency that airline passengers receive on every flight before they’re airborne Given without fail around the globe daily, millions often sit back and ignore flight attendants by reading a magazine, speaking to a neighbor, or simply becoming annoyed at the disruption of quiet The highlight of the instruction says: Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will fall from the ceiling in front of you If you are traveling with small children, place the mask on yourself first, then place a mask on the child Who would have thought for decades the airline industry has been sharing with millions of people a valuable life lesson A Life Lesson At first blush, this directive seems absurd After all, when you travel with a child, an adult’s natural inclination says children first Period No matter the circumstance However, consider that our emotional side is not always logical Ponder the life lesson to be learned here If you do not put your mask on yourself first, if you’re not breathing, how in the world can you ever help that child, yourself, or anyone else?
