The gala night at the Golden Globes 2010 turned out to be extra special for veteran Hollywood ace Jeff Bridges, as he capped off the heady night by deservedly bagging the highest acting honor.

The actor, who over his illustrious showbiz career, spanning several decades has featured in a host of timeless celluloid classics, bagged the Best Actor Honor, for his richly acclaimed performance in ‘Crazy Heart’.

It further appears that the actor beat off a stiff challenge from the likes of George Clooney for ‘Up in the Air’, Morgan Freeman for ‘Invictus’, Tobey Maguire for ‘Brothers’ and Colin Firth for ‘A Single Man’, who were in the race for the heady honor.

The movie, which has copped rich accolades from the critics worldwide, upon its recent commercial release, is a big –screen adaptation of Thomas Cobb’s best selling 1987 novel ‘Crazy Heart’ and has been directed by Scott Cooper.

The movie, and especially Bridges for his outstanding portrayal in the lead role, was counted as among the strongest award contenders at the Globes and will now surely be in the awards race at the upcoming Oscars.

The award surely comes as a deserved feather for the veteran Hollywood genius, for a truly riveting performance.
